The RYA Seamanship Course equips sailors with the skills to confidently handle a dinghy in diverse conditions, enhancing independence and decision-making on the water. Participants will learn essential techniques, including anchoring, sailing backwards, sailing without a rudder, and recovering from running aground. This practical, hands-on course is ideal for those looking to deepen their understanding of boat handling and improve their seamanship skills. Suitable for intermediate sailors aiming to advance their abilities and those looking for the next step in their sailing journey.
Who is this course for? - This course is for anyone that wants to enhance their skills and knowledge in dinghy sailing and gain more confidence.
Prerequisites - RYA Level 2, or equivalent sailing skill, is required. Some additional free sailing will help to consolidate this knowledge before doing the seamanship course.
Course Duration - 16 hours over 2 days
