Saturday OnBoard Club SOBC-22-1
The Saturday Onboard Club is open to all Carsington Junior Members who can sail and wish to practice skills taught in their RYA training courses.
Who runs the OnBoard Club?
OnBoard Club is always led by one, or more, of our RYA qualified instructors, to ensure good safe fun.
We encourage parents to help out and all are most welcome; just make yourself known to one of the instructors, if they haven't purloined you first!
What Does it Do?
The OnBoard Club is a managed sailing session used to encourage junior sailors to develop their sailing skills by Sailing and simply having Fun.
Having time on the water allows fun exercises to be used. This reinforces the more formal training and helps to build confidence. Exercises such as Follow-the-Leader, Simon Says, fun mini-races, capsize practice form part of OnBoard Club activities.
Boats are regularly doubled-up, which allows us to "cruise" around Carsington in a safe controlled way, with inexperienced sailors being paired with an experienced one.
Should there be no wind we have a plentiful supply of oars!!
Most weeks will often finish with fun race back to shore.
