Boat Assessment Scheme
The purpose of assessing and approving all classes of boat that may be sailed at the Club is an attempt to ensure that all boats are appropriate for sailing and racing on Carsington Water and that the Health and Safety of other sailors on the water is fully taken into account.
Only boats that are on the Approved Boats List are permitted to sail at Carsington Sailing Club.
You may view the current List of approved boats and RA numbers by following this link or you may obtain one by visiting the Club reception area where a hard copy is displayed.
The owner of any boat which is not on the list, but who is seeking permission to sail it at Carsington Sailing Club must first submit an application form to enable a risk assessment to be undertaken, prior to acceptance of the boat.
The task of risk assessing and approving new boats is the responsibility of the Sailing Committee.
The Sailing Committee will evaluate the boat parameters and specification to produce a "Risk Rating" for each boat.
The Sailing Committee is responsible to Club Management Committee and all "Risk Ratings" are ratified and authorized by Management Committee.
The process to determine individual boat "Risk Rating" is initiated by the requester completing an Application Form for a Boat RA Number and forwarding it to The Sailing Secretary or to the Club Office. A word document will be found if you follow the link at the bottom of this page under "Downloads". Alternatively a hard copy of this form may be obtained through the office in which case the Club Manager will then forward it to the Committee.
Remember any boat not on the 'Approved Boat List' must be approved before it is allowed on the water at Carsington Sailing Club.
If you are considering purchasing a boat to sail at the Club that is not on the current approved list, please make sure that you follow the procedure outlined above.
