As helm or crew, you are a strong sailor.
Prerequisites: Stage 3 or equivalent experience
Recommended: Confident sailing single handed in reasonable conditions.
In the final youth course, students will transfer their skills to double-handed boats and learn how to sail effectively as helm and crew. They will refine their practical skills to a high standard. Students will develop intelligent use of the five essentials, be able to launch and recover in any wind direction, and efficiently recover a man overboard. They will consolidate their theoretical knowledge and begin to understand coastal considerations and international rules and regulations.
Upon completing this course, students will be capable of helming or crewing a double-handed dinghy and regard themselves as capable, independent sailors. From here, the world of sailing truly opens up, with students able to progress into advanced courses and youth racing.
