RYA Powerboat Courses
RYA Powerboat Level 2
Prerequisites: Start your powerboating journey here! No experience required.
All you need to know for self-sufficient powerboating at a basic level, covering all safety elements and basic skills.
Our course provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. Other skills include launching, mooring, anchoring and recovery plus all the boat driving skills required for basic competence in a powerboat.
This course is the minimum requirement to drive a club powerboat, in any capacity, and as such is necessary to sign up to drive the Safety Boat.
Duration 16 hours - This course generally takes place over 2 Days: 09.00am to 5.00pm

RYA Powerboat Level 1
Prerequisites: An Introductory Course for Powerboat Handling
Provides a practical introduction to boat handling and safety in powerboats. It covers boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. The course may be conducted in a variety of boat types, both planing and displacement, and the certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place. A one day introduction to Powerboating with no previous experience required.
- Perfect for under 12s who are too young for the RYA Level 2.
